Imagine the excitement of finally buying a new home, only to walk into the backyard and find a heartbreak you never expected. On November 1st, at around 9:00 PM, a rescue mission began that would change two lives forever. A woman had just purchased a house that had sat empty for an entire month, but as she explored the property, she realized it wasn’t as empty as she thought.

Tucked away in the shadows were two dogs, Blackie and Reiki. They had been left behind, locked in that vacant lot for thirty long days without a drop of help or a scrap of food.

A Sight That Breaks the Heart

When the rescuer arrived, the scene was devastating. Reiki, the sister, looked absolutely shocked to see a human face again. Even though the rescuers were strangers, she seemed stunned that someone had finally come back for them. But it was Blackie’s condition that brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

While Reiki was also hungry and thin, she was in much better shape than her brother; she just needed a safe place and a good meal.

The next day, both dogs were finally allowed to go home with their rescuer. For Blackie, the first few days were all about one thing: eating. It was as if he was trying to make up for the entire month of starvation in a single afternoon. He was such a hungry, determined boy!
