Some places are filled with the echoes of journeys taken, but for one beautiful Husky, a train station bridge became a place of silence and shadows.
The call came from a railway employee. She had spotted a dog hiding under the bridge in terrible condition—a dog that had likely been there, alone and broken, for three agonizing days. The rescue team didn’t hesitate. They drove over 100 km, fueled by the hope that they wouldn’t be too late.
When they arrived, the air felt heavy with melancholy.
There he was: a stunning Husky with eyes that still held a spark of life, despite the horror he had just endured. He had been struck by a train. His body was crushed, and his spirit was veiled in pain, but as the rescuers reached for him, he did something unexpected.
He was friendly. He wasn’t scared; he was relieved.

A Diagnosis Against All Odds
The news at the veterinary clinic was worse than anyone had feared. The impact of the train had shattered his spine, leaving him paralyzed. But an ultrasound revealed an even more immediate threat: an intussusception—a condition where the intestines are pressed and blocked.
In the medical world, this is often a fatal “death sentence.”
The rescuers named him Vova. For the first 48 hours, Vova’s life hung by a thread. He was vomiting, trembling, and slipping away. The team asked for prayers, knowing that medicine alone might not be enough to pull him back from the brink.
The Long, Quiet Road to Day 60
Recovery wasn’t a sprint; it was a grueling marathon of small victories.
- Day 7: Vova finally regained his appetite, though his body was still struggling to function.
- Day 12: The heartbreaking reality set in—his hind legs had no sensation.
- Day 35: After weeks of physical therapy, Vova was getting stronger. He discovered a love for cakes and, most importantly, a love for being cuddled.
Even while paralyzed, Vova’s true personality began to bloom. He showed a special, gentle affinity for children, wagging his tail whenever they were near. He wasn’t a “victim” anymore; he was a friend.

A Miracle on Wheels
By Day 60, something shifted. Vova stopped just “surviving” and started trying to run.
He didn’t care that his back legs didn’t move. He used his strong front paws to pull himself forward, driven by a Husky’s natural desire for movement. To help him reclaim his freedom, the team fitted him with a custom wheelchair.
At first, he was confused by the metal frame and the wheels. But by Day 100, he realized they were his new legs. He wasn’t confined to a bed anymore—he was a Husky again, catching the wind in his fur.
Day 145: Born Again
Today, Vova’s journey stands as a testament to the fact that nothing is more precious than life. He has spent over 145 days fighting to be here. From the dark shadows under a railway bridge to the bright sunshine of a yard, he has been “born again.” He will spend the rest of his life being cuddled, eating cakes, and showing everyone who meets him that a broken spine doesn’t mean a broken soul.
Vova’s story reminds us that:
- Miracles happen where hope is given a chance.
- Pain doesn’t have to define your temperament.
- Every life is worth the 100 km drive, the surgeries, and the wait.
Thank you for being part of Vova’s journey. Because of support and prayers, he is alive. And that is the most valuable thing in the world.
