Some dogs like the snow. And then there is Promise.
For this highly energetic pup, winter isn’t just a season—it’s a lifestyle. Ever since she was a tiny puppy, flurries of snow meant only one thing: it was time to hit the hills.
Usually, Promise spends her snowy afternoons riding in a sled with her mom, Mary, or happily pushing the empty sled down the slope all by herself.
But this year, winter brought a completely unexpected twist.
Instead of a standard plastic toboggan, Promise found a brand-new “sled.” And instead of riding alone, she drafted a very reluctant, yet incredibly tolerant, co-pilot: her feline brother, Whisper.

A Very Unusual Christmas Gift
It all began just a few days before Christmas.
Mary had ventured out to the store to buy Promise a brand-new sled for the season. But while browsing the aisles, she started thinking about Whisper.
Whisper wasn’t your average cat. Rescued when he was just two weeks old, the adventurous feline was already used to an action-packed life. He was currently learning to ride a skateboard and frequently traveled everywhere tucked warmly inside Mary’s jacket.
Movement didn’t bother him. In fact, he seemed to embrace it.
“We decided to get Whisper one, too, just in case he was interested,” Mary shared.
But finding a sled small enough for a cat proved difficult. So, Mary got creative. She walked out of the store with the next best thing: an extra litter box.

The Indoor Practice Run
When Mary brought the bright plastic litter box home, Whisper was immediately intrigued.
Like any curious cat, he quickly hopped inside to investigate this new cardboard-box alternative. Seeing a golden opportunity, Mary attached a leash to the front of the box.
That was all the invitation Promise needed.
To the snow-obsessed dog, anything with a leash attached to it was clearly meant to be pulled. Without a second of hesitation, Promise grabbed the leash in her teeth and began dragging her brother all over the house.
The contrast was absolutely hilarious.
Promise was thrilled, prancing proudly from room to room with her makeshift cargo. Whisper, on the other hand, sat perfectly still inside the litter box, completely unfazed by the sudden indoor joyride.

Taking the Sledding Show Outside
Seeing how calm and comfortable Whisper was during the indoor test run, Mary realized they had to take this new game to the next level.
She carried the litter box outside, with Whisper comfortably seated inside, and placed it gently on the fresh snow.
Promise didn’t skip a beat.
She immediately grabbed the leash and began the hard work of hauling her feline brother up her absolute favorite sledding hill. Once they reached the snowy peak, Promise carefully positioned the litter box right on the edge of the slope.
Like a true big sister making sure her sibling was safe, she gave Whisper a few reassuring licks on the head. Then, she dropped the leash next to him.
With a gentle, deliberate nudge of her nose, Promise sent her little brother gliding down the hill.

A Stoic Passenger and a Joyful Dog
The sight was nothing short of comedy gold.
Promise was absolutely elated to finally have a sledding buddy. Whisper, true to his feline nature, remained entirely stoic and tolerant throughout the entire ride.
“Whisper was incredibly calm,” Mary laughed. “His reaction was really mostly mild interest—and probably mild annoyance when Promise flipped him out by accident.”
Even when a slight bump tipped him into the snow, Whisper simply gave Promise a look that said, “Seriously, dude?” before casually climbing right back into his plastic chariot.
For Mary, watching the two of them play wasn’t just funny; it was deeply heartwarming.
Seeing Promise pull the sled brought back beautiful memories of her late, snow-loving pup, Secret. But seeing Whisper join in on the tradition was a joyous surprise she never could have anticipated.
The Perfect End to a Winter Day
After their grand sledding adventure, the energetic dog and the patient cat headed back inside.
They traded the freezing snow for the warmth of the living room, curling up together for a well-deserved, cozy nap.
Promise and Whisper have shared a special connection since the day the tiny two-week-old kitten was brought home. They play tug-of-war, they cuddle, and they share their daily lives in perfect harmony.
But conquering the snowy hills together in a plastic litter box?
That took their bond to a whole new level. It just goes to show that family fun comes in all shapes and sizes—even if it means being dragged through the snow by your overly enthusiastic canine sister!
