Standing alone in the middle of a busy residential street was a dog unlike any she had ever seen before. He was completely bald, fragile-looking, and visibly terrified of his surroundings.

He was a Xoloitzcuintli—a Mexican hairless dog. It is an incredibly rare and ancient breed, making the sight of him wandering a dirty city corner all the more shocking.
