As she stabilized, the medical staff conducted further X-rays to ensure she was healing. What they found next broke everyone’s heart all over again.

Lodged near her spine was a bullet from a prior assault.

The realization hit hard. This recent beating was not the first time she had been a victim of senseless violence. Three weeks later, after overcoming the most terrible period of her life, Pakdasht was officially discharged from the hospital.

She moved to a special shelter, a safe haven where she would never be hurt again. Everyone at the sanctuary was deeply impressed with her strong will to live. Instead of giving up, she began getting used to her blindness little by little. She learned to navigate her new world, relying entirely on her sharp sense of smell and touch.

At the shelter, she found a true family. There were two other blind dogs living there, and these special friends helped her overcome this difficult transition.
